Tonight (Tuesday 1/26) 5-7 PM on WKDU's University Goes Ska: Doug D. and Freddie from Ruder Than You chat with Monika and play favorite selections from three waves of ska. In Philly it's on 91.7FM. Out of town? Listen to the live stream at www.wkdu.org. |

Fun show last night with a nice, diverse selection of tunes ranging from classic Jamaican tunes to 2 Tone to early US to contemporary ska. Served with a regular helping of Ruder Than You.
It sounded like Monika, Doug, and Freddie were having a great time. Any guesses as to what they were up to when the sound cut off? Hitting the bottle? Four square? Shoe shopping? |

That was our dead air tribute to college radio. Much thanks to Monika for letting us play with all the buttons and faders at WKDU. Hope to see a many of you out at our North Star show Saturday 1/30 with On Display and Royal City Riot. |

I appreciated the Boilers track. They were an NYC ska band featuring the very early styling of King Django. Great early third-wave album, but it's very hard to find. Took me a few years. It was set to be released on Moon Records in the US, but the deal fell through for some reason. Instead it was only released on Ska Records over in the UK (which released a few repackaged and renamed early Moon releases). |
